Salon de l’Escalade | Climbing in the Heart of Paris

On January 11-12, the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles hosted the first-ever climbing event in the capital, Salon de l’Escalade, marking the 5th edition of this exciting gathering. The event was a huge success, attracting a vibrant crowd of climbers, enthusiasts, and industry professionals.

With climbing no longer confined to mountainous regions, the urban climbing boom was on full display. Over two days, visitors explored cutting-edge gear, tested equipment, and even climbed on artificial walls. The highlight? A thrilling climbing contest featuring 190 competitors, culminating in an electrifying European Cup-style final on Saturday night.

Fans also got to meet legendary climbers Alain Robert and Oriane Bertone, with Alain signing his book L’Homme Araignée and Oriane sharing her experiences following the Paris 2024 Olympics. Meanwhile, young climbers had their own challenges with the Rock Tour Youth Contest, making the event inclusive for all ages and skill levels.

Beyond the competitions and climbing challenges, the event also provided a platform for important discussions about the future of the sport. Tiba Vroom attended on behalf of the Women’s Bouldering Festival and RespectBleau, shedding light on their efforts to promote inclusivity, environmental awareness, and responsible climbing practices. She engaged with visitors about their mission to protect Fontainebleau and other climbing areas while fostering a diverse and welcoming community. Her presence inspired meaningful conversations about sustainability and the importance of community-driven initiatives in the climbing world.

More than just a climbing showcase, the event was a true meeting point for athletes, brands, federations, and industry professionals, with 18 packed conferences covering the latest trends in climbing, tourism, and economic development.

A weekend filled with action, learning, and unforgettable moments—Paris has proven itself as a true climbing hub! See you next time!
